Annual Family Picnic 2014

Making alcapurrias at the NACOPRW Miami picnic 2014

It’s that time again! Family and friends were gathered at the Oleta River State Park on Sunday, October 26, 2014. It’s a great place to go biking or boating, and enjoy the calming breeze off the coast of North Miami overlooking Biscayne Bay.

Attendees enjoyed playing instruments, dominoes, and card games.

We had a good variety of Puerto Rican treats, such as piononos, pasteles, bacalaítos, and alcapurrias.

It’s hard not to go for seconds at our picnics! Sure, let’s get just ONE more.

The Picnic cook is making alcapurrias, which are Puerto Rican fried fritters, stuffed with beef or pork.
